World Bank financing for medical waste incinerators in Lebanon.. Appropriate technologies to ensure the sustainable protection of the environment and public health rather than the adoption of modern incinerators

Despite all the evidence linking the burning of medical wastepollution, toxic acute and despite the ease of finding informationon alternative technologies for medical waste managementcontinues to the World Bank on a regular basis included the burning of medical waste in the health sector projects.
Can not be invoked as the World Bank's ignorance in his defensesustained burns to market. The publication of the World Bank office in South Asia in the January 1996 report entitled "Environment India: evaluation of projects, programs and priorities," it recommended to avoid burning of medical waste:
"Should be linked to policies of long-term guidance andlegislation imperatives immediate screening and treatment ofmedical waste from the source. And should include a link to theappropriate technologies to ensure the sustainable protection of the environment and public health rather than the adoption of the Holocaust modern imported cost prohibitive and maintenancedifficult."
