Abbas bin Toson (1849 - 1854) disrupted his time in reform projects that had begun in the period of his grandfather Muhammad Ali, as Abbas was reactionary and authoritarian. Did not trust the Europeans nor the Egyptians who occupied senior positions, and even members of his family who had a large portion of whom live outside of Egypt, so the preferred Abbas lonely life outside Cairo. Abbas does not trust the Europeans and allowed reforms in Egypt. Abbas did not care about school, closed down factories and disrupted projects and neglected army. Abbas was assassinated in mysterious circumstances in 1854.
