Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.. oversight of permanent residency and temporary protection of refugees and applications for citizenship operations

Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (in French: Citoyenneté et Immigration Canada) is the Canadian government agency overseeing the conduct of the Immigration and Nationality matters.

Founded in 1994 following the reorganization of federal government operations.

Circle operates an extensive network of centers, "Citizenship and Immigration" in all parts of Canada and a large number of embassies, high commissions and consulates abroad.

Service Canada recently began to take over some of the local agency field operations while received the Canada Border Services Agency responsibility to control entry at the border and at airports and implementation of related laws.

The primary responsibility of the circuit remains in policy development and oversight of permanent residency and temporary operations, and the protection of refugees and applications for citizenship.
